About the Role
The Welfare Officer for sanctuary in Barnet is responsible for ensuring the well-being and support of sanctuary seekers resettling in the Barnet community. This role will primarily focus on Ukrainian guests through the Homes for Ukraine programme, with potential to expand to other cohorts. Responsibilities include undertaking comprehensive, strength-based assessments of refugee individuals and families, coordinating resources, support, and signposting to promote successful integration and resilience. The role also involves engaging with the community to understand current challenges and supporting the delivery of initiatives and events aimed at improving the lives of sanctuary seekers in Barnet.

Requirements

Experience
Experience working with vulnerable individuals and families, preferably in social work, human services, or related fields. Knowledge of safeguarding procedures, risk assessment processes, and ethical considerations is essential.

About You
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field.
- Ability to speak, read, and write Ukrainian fluently to effectively engage and communicate with Ukrainian residents and families.
- Knowledge of community resources, local networks, and partnership opportunities to support refugee integration.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate support and deliver community initiatives.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree as specified above. Relevant professional qualifications or training in social work or related disciplines are desirable.
