About the Role
The Safeguarding Practice Review Officer will lead on and develop a new and innovative model for producing child safeguarding practice reviews (CSPR), rapid reviews, and wider thematic reviews such as multi-agency audits. This role is crucial at a time when safeguarding children’s partnerships must swiftly identify learning from serious safeguarding incidents and propose targeted, robust recommendations to improve single and multi-agency systems and practices.

The postholder will oversee cases escalated to the national Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel, manage the Local Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews process, and lead the effective dissemination of learning from serious child safeguarding cases to continuously strengthen Barnet’s safeguarding system.

This role requires close collaboration with multi-agency partners and internal teams, including the BSCP Partnership Manager and the Independent Chair of the Learning and Thematic Review Group, to ensure learning is embedded and practice is improved across the partnership.

Experience
Considerable experience working within multi-agency safeguarding systems is essential. Proven ability to analyse safeguarding practice and present information clearly to diverse audiences through excellent report writing skills is required. Experience convening and delivering learning workshops, audits, and webinars related to serious safeguarding incidents is highly desirable.

You can effectively engage front line practitioners and senior officials to reflect on serious safeguarding incidents, ensuring the voices of children and families affected are fully considered. You work autonomously, liaise effectively with multi-agency partners, and translate learning into practical tools to improve safeguarding practice.
