About the Role
We are looking to appoint two experienced SEND Officers to join our welcoming and supportive team in Brent. Brent is a vibrant London borough with a diverse community, spanning both inner and outer London, known for its rich cultural and ethnic diversity. The council is undergoing a significant transformation agenda to better meet the needs of our community, making this an exciting time to join us.

The post holder will work alongside a colleague with a dedicated cluster of schools and a multi-disciplinary team either in one of the Brent Family Hub areas or with families whose children attend schools in neighbouring authorities or independent special schools further afield. Although caseloads are high, the team is experienced and supportive, offering opportunities for professional development within SEND.

The role involves navigating case work within current legislation to ensure children and young people receive the special educational provision they need to reach their full potential and achieve their outcomes. You will be responsible for producing excellent case work, ensuring families are kept informed and satisfied with the provision commissioned and outcomes achieved. An understanding of related legislation such as The Education Act 1996, The Equality Act 2010, and knowledge of how children’s and adult’s social care work with shared families is advantageous, as SEND Officers manage an all-age caseload of children and young people aged 0-25.

Why Join Us?
- Up to 33 days annual leave (depending on length of service) plus bank holidays
- Excellent pension with generous employer contributions (LGPS)
- Hybrid and flexible working options available for most roles
- Supportive family-friendly policies for parents, guardians, and carers
- Health and wellbeing support including eye test support and a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme
- Financial support such as education sessions, childcare deposit loans, and season ticket loans
- Travel perks including affordable parking, Cycle to Work scheme, and great onsite facilities
- Learning and development opportunities to help you grow your career
- Access to My Brent Rewards with exclusive discounts on shopping, travel, leisure, and entertainment
