About the Role
As the UK’s communications regulator, Ofcom plays a vital role in keeping the UK connected and shaping the future of communications. The Online Safety Group ensures UK citizens have a safer life online by implementing and overseeing the Online Safety Act 2023. This role is within the Online Safety Policy Development team, which leads the development of Ofcom’s online safety policies to make users safer online.

This Senior Associate position is based in the Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSEA) Policy Team. The team creates bold and innovative policies to protect the public from child sexual abuse and exploitation online and prevent children from becoming victims. Key priorities include driving compliance with existing Codes of Practice, assessing the impact of the Government’s proposals to ban under-16s from social media, and implementing legislative changes from the Crime and Policing Act.

This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months. The role involves applying subject matter expertise to policy development, compliance, and stakeholder engagement. You will support supervision and enforcement teams, research emerging trends, and build relationships internally and externally. There may be some line management responsibilities.

Applicants should be aware that the role involves working with distressing content and themes related to child sexual abuse and exploitation. Ofcom provides tailored support including training, psychological assessments, and counselling services.

This role requires National Security Vetting to Security Clearance (SC) level.
