About the Role
As the UK’s communications regulator, Ofcom plays a vital role in keeping the UK connected and shaping the future of communications. The Senior Associate, Technical Advisor will join the Online Safety Technology (OS Tech) team, which supports multi-disciplinary teams across Ofcom by providing expert technical advice on Age Assurance and Digital Identity technologies related to online safety.
This role involves conducting research, providing technical guidance to policy, supervision and enforcement teams, and evaluating Age Assurance and Digital Identity systems. You will translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences, contribute to horizon scanning of emerging technologies, and represent Ofcom in external technical forums.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong technical background in Digital Identity, Age Assurance, or Identity and Access Management, ideally with experience in a regulatory context, who is passionate about online safety and regulatory innovation.

Experience
- Practical or theoretical expertise in Age Assurance, Digital Identity, or related areas such as Identity and Access Management.
- Experience in conducting structured and evidence-based evaluations of Age Assurance mechanisms or the ability to research and explain these technologies.
- Experience in a technical advisory role within a regulatory context is desirable.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across organisational boundaries with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities.

Qualifications
Educated to at least degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering or science subject. Candidates with equivalent demonstrable skills and experience in specialist knowledge areas will also be considered.
