About the Role
Join the Ministry of Justice as a Senior Data Engineer and be part of a warm, collaborative Data & Analytics Engineering community. This role aligns with the Government Digital and Data Framework for Senior Data Engineers and offers the opportunity to work with leading cloud technologies to transform how data is used in the public sector.

You will work alongside Data Engineers and Analytics Engineers to bridge the gap between data producers and users by developing analytical pipelines and self-service tools that acquire, transform, and make data available on the Analytical Platform.

Key responsibilities include designing and building scalable automated data flows, writing and optimising ETL scripts, deploying solutions using AWS services and infrastructure-as-code, and supporting users of the Ministry’s Analytical Platform. You will also contribute to technical documentation, promote best practices, respond to incidents, develop novel solutions, and may line manage junior colleagues.

Experience
- Working in a technical team, preferably using Python and SQL, with strong technical skills in both languages
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle including testing (e.g. pytest), version control (e.g. git), and CI/CD (e.g. GitHub Actions)
- Experience working with a range of data sources and data wrangling, analysis or manipulation
- Communicating effectively with stakeholders and translating user needs into technical requirements

You may come from diverse backgrounds such as analysis, software engineering, or data science. You are motivated to work collaboratively, promote best practices, and support team development.

Qualifications
There are no specific formal qualifications required; however, strong technical skills in Python and SQL, and experience with cloud technologies and software development practices are essential. Willingness to undergo Security Check clearance is required.
