About the Role

This senior role holds professional accountability for the estate electrical infrastructure, supporting operational teams to develop the estate using ERIC/PAM data, National Policy standards, HTM/HBN guidance, and industry best practice.
The Senior Electrical Engineer will safeguard patient and staff wellbeing by overseeing statutory compliance, risk management, and technical standards across all electrical assets including generators, UPS, transformers, switchgear, medical equipment, HVAC, lighting systems, lifts, electrical supply and distribution, and both low and high voltage systems.
The post holder will act as a senior technical authority, supporting Heads of Service to deliver a robust estates compliance framework, drive continuous improvement in system performance, and contribute to the Trust’s strategic objectives in sustainability, energy efficiency, and service resilience. The role requires compassionate, inclusive, and accountable leadership aligned with the NHS Management and Leadership Framework and the Trust’s values, fostering psychologically safe environments where staff can speak up, learn, and improve.
Experience
Extensive successful track record in senior electrical engineering roles within Estates, Facilities, infrastructure, or equivalent complex operational environments. Experience in organisation-wide policy development, interpreting legislative and other requirements. Proven leadership in complex NHS or equivalent regulated environments, demonstrating service improvement, compliance, and stakeholder partnership working.

Qualifications
Essential: Education to first degree level or equivalent experience in electrical engineering discipline with additional professional electrical systems training and specialist knowledge. Chartered Engineer (CEng). Authorised Person/Responsible Person training/qualifications.
Desirable: CPD in relevant technical areas. Health & Safety qualification such as NEBOSH Diploma or IOSH. Asbestos awareness.
