About the Role
You will be working within the Highways and Sustainable Transport service, part of the Environment and Sustainable Transport directorate, committed to making streets safer and healthier to encourage walking and cycling, improve air quality, and reduce car use on local streets. The Urban Design team, within the Planned Maintenance and Urban Design Team, is responsible for the design, management, and delivery of urban realm and traffic improvement schemes in the public realm. As a Senior Highway Engineer, you will work within a team of engineers responsible for highway design and contract management, acting as designer and principal designer on various schemes. Experience with 3D level design using 3D Civils is preferable but not essential.

London City Airport is nearby at Royal Albert Dock. Newham has the youngest population in the country and was a host borough for the 2012 Summer Olympics, containing much of the Olympic Park including the London Stadium. The borough offers a vibrant arts scene with venues such as Theatre Royal Stratford East and Stratford Circus Arts Centre, two University of East London campuses, and a large Westfield shopping centre in Stratford.

Experience
Demonstrable relevant experience in highways design, site supervision, project management of highway, engineering and traffic management projects, stakeholder management, and contract management. Experience working under pressure, both independently and as part of a team, delivering projects on budget and to tight deadlines.

You should be approaching professional member status with an appropriate institution. You will have the skills and knowledge to work effectively in a highly pressurized environment and contribute positively to team goals.

Qualifications
Professional membership or approaching membership of a relevant institution is expected.
