About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Highway Safety Inspector to join the London Borough of Newham. In this frontline role, you will be responsible for inspecting highways at regular intervals according to agreed schedules and arranging for the rectification of any defects found. You will work within a busy Highways, Sustainable Transport and Parking environment, liaising with contractors, Elected Members, residents, and other external stakeholders. This role requires excellent technical and professional knowledge of highway safety and maintenance, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. You will be expected to use your own car for work purposes and must hold a valid driving licence.

Experience
At least 12 months of experience undertaking highways or street works inspections. Demonstrable experience working in a busy Highways, Sustainable Transport and Parking environment is essential. Knowledge of highway construction, maintenance or management, including construction materials, techniques and specifications, is highly desirable.

About you
You will have excellent communication skills and be confident in dealing with a wide range of stakeholders including contractors, Elected Members, and residents. You should be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while managing your time effectively. A valid driving licence and willingness to use your own vehicle for work purposes are required.

Qualifications
