About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Team Manager with Local Authority experience to join the Adults - Older People and Disability service at an exciting time of transformation. You will lead and manage a team of social workers and social care officers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and reflective practice that motivates staff to deliver their best. Your role will include embedding and improving performance at the team level, ensuring social work quality aligns with established good practice models, and supporting residents, families, and carers to maintain independence through the Well Newham approach.

You will oversee professional standards, manage risk and performance, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and statutory guidance. You will contribute to strategic service development and occasionally cover for the Service Manager. Collaboration with social care, integrated networks, hospital teams, voluntary and community sectors, and other agencies will be essential to share best practice and maintain consistency of approach.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience in managing and leading social work teams within a Local Authority setting. Demonstrable success in delivering high-quality interventions and supporting practitioners to embed excellent practice. Experience working within multi-disciplinary settings and developing training for diverse audiences. Familiarity with IT recording systems and data use for monitoring, quality assurance, and service improvement.

Strong knowledge of Care Act interventions, Strengths Based Practice, Mental Capacity, Safeguarding Adults, and risk management supported by current research and practice.

About you
Registered Social Worker or Occupational Therapist with strong leadership and management skills. Committed to making a positive difference to the people supported and sharing the vision of an inclusive, strengths-based service. Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong partnerships across voluntary, community, faith sectors, and health services.

Qualifications
Registered Social Worker or Occupational Therapist status is essential. Relevant management qualifications and training in AMHP, BIA, or PE are desirable but not mandatory.
