About the Role
At Burberry, creativity opens spaces. We unlock the power of imagination to push boundaries and open new possibilities for our people, customers and communities. As a purposeful, values-driven brand, we are committed to sustainable luxury, driving industry change and championing our communities.
As a Senior Integration Engineer within the Architecture function, you will be accountable for engineering and maintaining the shared integration platform capabilities that underpin Burberry's ability to connect its technology estate reliably and at pace. This includes iPaaS administration, API gateway management, event-driven infrastructure, integration pattern libraries, monitoring and reusable connector development.
You will work closely with the Senior Solution Architect, Integration to maintain a clear separation between architectural direction and engineering execution. This foundational role involves establishing engineering practices, platform services and reusable components from the ground up, building internal integration engineering capability alongside partner resources.
Your responsibilities include building, maintaining and operating shared integration platform services consumed by domain-aligned, platform and programme teams; developing reusable integration components and pattern implementations to accelerate delivery and enforce consistency; owning the operational health of the platform including performance monitoring, incident response and upgrades; translating architectural standards into engineered platform capabilities; enabling product and programme teams with hands-on guidance; collaborating with AI engineers to support agent-to-system connectivity; partnering with Enterprise Security Architects to embed security-by-design; maintaining comprehensive documentation; and continuously evaluating integration tooling and recommending platform evolution.
Experience
- Proven experience in integration engineering, middleware or platform engineering within complex, multi-system environments.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise iPaaS and integration tools such as SAP BTP / Integration Suite, MuleSoft, Boomi, Informatica or equivalents.
- Practical experience with API management platforms like Apigee, Azure API Management or Kong.
- Strong event-driven and messaging experience including Apache Kafka, Azure Service Bus or equivalents.
- Solid understanding of enterprise integration patterns (EAI, ESB, API-led connectivity, canonical data models, orchestration vs. choreography).
- Practical knowledge of API security, OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect, mutual TLS, data-in-transit protection and access control.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for integration deployment, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Bicep or equivalent) and integration monitoring/observability tooling.
- Collaborative working style across multiple teams in a cross-functional environment.
- Comfortable establishing integration engineering practices, reusable assets and platform services from scratch.
About you
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to documentation, reusable asset development, knowledge sharing and engineering consistency.
- Able to balance pace of delivery with sustainable, well-documented engineering foundations.
- Effective at enabling other teams without centralising delivery.
- Strong communicator and collaborator within a cross-functional operating model.
Qualifications
No specific formal qualifications are mandated; however, relevant certifications or training in integration platforms, API management, or cloud infrastructure are advantageous.
