You will act as a design and decision‑making authority, shaping Employee Relations policies, frameworks and ways of working to support fair, consistent and sustainable outcomes. The role involves making balanced, well‑reasoned decisions on matters involving legal, regulatory, reputational and cultural considerations, ensuring approaches are equitable, proportionate and defensible.
Working within a global and diverse organisation, you will support senior‑level decision‑making on Employee Relations matters with cross‑jurisdictional, Group‑wide or precedent‑setting implications. Through close partnership with People Leaders, the People Function and a wide range of stakeholders, you will help embed inclusive Employee Relations practices that support organisational effectiveness, regulatory expectations and positive colleague experience.
Key responsibilities include:

- Leading and overseeing high‑impact Employee Relations cases, including senior‑level grievances, investigations, disciplinary and whistleblowing matters with enterprise, reputational or precedent‑setting considerations.
- Acting as a senior escalation point within the Employee Relations CoE, offering governance, quality assurance and oversight to support confidence, consistency and sound decision‑making.
- Leading or contributing to organisation‑wide Employee Relations programmes and initiatives, including organisational change, redundancy and transformation activities involving multiple stakeholders.
- Partnering with colleagues across the People Function, Legal and the business to design, review and embed Employee Relations frameworks, policies and ways of working.
- Using data, insight and technology to identify themes, emerging risks and opportunities for improvement across Employee Relations activity.
- Building constructive, professional relationships with senior stakeholders, supporting informed decisions and appropriately challenging approaches that may introduce legal, regulatory or cultural risk.
- Producing clear, balanced and accessible written outputs, including outcome communications, senior briefings and risk assessments for complex or sensitive matters.
Experience
- Senior level experience within Employee Relations with practical application of UK employment law in complex environments.
- Current knowledge of UK employment law and contemporary Employee Relations practice.
- Managing complex or high‑risk Employee Relations matters end‑to‑end, including senior‑level or organisation‑wide cases.
- Supporting organisational change, restructuring or business transformation activity.
- Experience working with trade unions or employee representative bodies in a UK context.
- Confidence using data, insight and digital tools (including AI) responsibly to support Employee Relations casework, identify trends and inform decision‑making.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in complex settings and engage constructively with differing views.
About you
- Clear and inclusive communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues, influence decisions and support others through challenging topics.
- Sound judgement, balancing colleague experience, organisational impact and risk.
- Ability to analyse patterns in Employee Relations activity and translate this into practical, forward‑looking recommendations.
- A collaborative approach, focused on partnership, learning and continuous improvement.
