About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker to cover the night shift in our Lewisham-based service, which provides specialist intensive rehabilitation for individuals requiring enhanced interventions beyond commissioned community services. Residents live with us for up to nine months following discharge from acute wards, helping to avoid inpatient rehabilitation admissions. Our goal is to support residents to step down into less supported accommodation, fostering independence and community integration.

As the main point of contact during the night shift, you will lead by example, providing specialist support to empower both the team and residents. Your responsibilities include ensuring resident safety, wellbeing, and progress towards recovery goals, managing and creating a safe and empowering environment, and building relationships with key partners involved in residents’ journeys.

You will create support plans, organise and hold activities, deliver one-to-one therapeutic support, act as a key worker, and assist residents in developing skills and confidence to manage their mental health and wellbeing. Additionally, you will contribute to support plans, reflective learning, and team development while maintaining a safe and positive living environment through effective housing management and day-to-day support.

The night shift is crucial in maintaining the high-quality care provided during the day, ensuring a safe, respectful, and responsive environment. Night staff are expected to remain awake, alert, and actively engaged throughout their shift. Sleeping on duty is strictly prohibited and may lead to disciplinary action, including dismissal for gross misconduct.

Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as lead point of contact for the night shift, supporting the team and residents with specific needs and queries
- Supporting night shifts across two residential properties
- Providing tailored, person-centred support that promotes recovery, rehabilitation, and independence
- Helping residents build skills and confidence to move towards independent or supported living
- Monitoring residents’ wellbeing, carrying out regular checks, and responding to incidents or emergencies
- Fostering a positive, empowering, and recovery-focused environment
- Maintaining accurate records and handovers to ensure effective communication between shifts
- Ensuring a calm, safe, and supportive environment that promotes positive engagement and progress
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and management to deliver high-quality care
- Remaining alert and monitoring CCTV throughout the shift
- Completing routine night duties and any tasks handed over by day shift or service manager
- Key worker duties including inductions, support plans, reviews, risk assessments, welfare checks, record updates, managing access and unauthorized visitors, following missing person protocols, and escalating issues to on-call when needed
- Health & Safety duties including property checks, reporting maintenance issues, keeping communal areas clean and safe, and completing required reports (AINMs and others)

Requirements

Experience
- Previous experience working with people with multiple complex needs including mental health, substance misuse, alcohol, and challenging behaviours
- Experience creating co-produced support plans, key working, and care planning with appropriate interventions
- Experience in a similar senior role, sharing skills and knowledge to support others
- Ability to act as a point of contact and specialist within the service to support team and residents with queries and challenges
- IT proficiency including ability to learn new software and use basic Microsoft applications
- Understanding of housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs

About You
You are a resilient and compassionate individual who provides high-quality care and works collaboratively within a supportive team. You value communication, empathy, and empowerment, and are proactive in supporting residents even during quieter hours. You help ensure the smooth running of the service, actively engage with the wider team and residents, and support the team to stay motivated and work together to achieve service KPIs.

Alignment with our core values is essential.
