About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Practitioner to join our Adults Social Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving practice excellence, supporting service improvement and helping prepare the service for regulatory inspection. Working closely with the Team Managers and Service Manager, you will champion strengths-based, person-centred practice across Adult Social Care, lead quality assurance initiatives and contribute to the development of policies, procedures and workforce learning programmes.

You will provide professional leadership for complex cases within the Community Rehabilitation and Forensic Team, leading on assessment, care planning, risk management, safeguarding, and statutory responsibilities, while working closely with partner agencies to support recovery, independence, and public safety. You will also take a lead role in supporting newly qualified social workers and developing apprenticeship pathways to strengthen the future workforce.

About the Team
Our Adults, Health and Communities Directorate is committed to helping residents achieve the best possible outcomes through innovative, strengths-based social work practice. You will work alongside Principal Social Workers, Heads of Service, Team Managers, Workforce Development colleagues and social care practitioners across Adult Services. The team is focused on continuous improvement, collaboration and professional development, creating an environment where learning, quality assurance and best practice are at the heart of everything we do.

The Community Rehabilitation and Forensic Team supports adults with complex mental health needs and forensic histories to live safely and independently in the community. The team carries out assessments, care planning, reviews, safeguarding, and risk management, working closely with health services, probation, housing providers, police, and other partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for residents.

Working for Haringey
At Haringey Council we are committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included, and able to be their best at work. We recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce and welcome applications from all ethnicities and communities to continue making a difference to our residents and community.

Our benefits package includes a leave entitlement of 31 days plus bank holidays, potential hybrid working opportunities, health and wellbeing support, a generous local government pension scheme and a range of discount schemes across leisure and culture that provide both financial and money-saving discounts.

Requirements

Experience
Significant post-qualifying experience in adult mental health, forensic services, or community rehabilitation. Experience managing complex cases within multi-agency settings and a strong knowledge of relevant legislation, safeguarding, and risk management.

About you
Qualified Social Worker (Degree, DipSW, or equivalent) registered with Social Work England. Ability to build effective relationships, identify opportunities for service improvement, communicate clearly with a range of stakeholders, produce high-quality reports, and manage competing priorities effectively. Skilled in using IT systems and data responsibly. Confident in leading discussions, delivering workshops, and influencing practice improvement across services. Committed to delivering high standards of professional practice and positive outcomes for adults.

Qualifications
Registered Social Worker qualification (Degree, DipSW, or equivalent) with Social Work England registration.
