Our Surveying Advisory Business Unit is recruiting for a Senior Building Surveyor to support the delivery of technical advisory services including technical due diligence reviews, asset condition surveys, and lifecycle/maintenance assessments. You will provide expert independent advice to lenders, investors, government departments, and local authorities within the property and construction sectors. Your responsibilities include delivering a client-facing advisory service to a high standard, conducting various building surveys, and undertaking project work for a wide range of clients such as major investors, funders, developers, asset operators, national government agencies, local authorities, and healthcare trusts. You will contribute to the continued success and growth of the team and embrace the responsibility of service delivery as a Senior Building Surveyor. The Surveying Advisory team is a dynamic multidisciplinary group including building surveying, quantity surveying, mechanical and electrical engineering, and facilities management professionals. Together, we provide services to equity investors, debt financiers, management companies, construction companies, developers, and government organisations. We identify and manage technical and commercial risks associated with the development, management, maintenance, and funding of infrastructure and real estate projects, leveraging global technical expertise combined with commercial and contractual transaction knowledge. Experience
- Inspecting and reporting on operational assets in sectors such as education, healthcare, defence, and purpose-built student accommodation.
- Undertaking technical due diligence assignments for investors, lenders, asset owners, and public-sector clients.
- Working within multidisciplinary teams collaborating with MEP engineers, quantity surveyors, fire engineers, and project managers.
- Supporting clients on PPP/PFI expiry programmes, handback reviews, and residual life assessments (advantageous).
- Understanding Project Agreements, lifecycle obligations, and asset condition provisions within PPP/PFI contracts (advantageous).
- Experience working within defence or secure environments (advantageous).
About you
- Commercially aware with an understanding of project profitability, fee management, and client relationship development.
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills, including interpretation of survey data, lifecycle information, and asset registers.
- Ability to contribute to business development activities including bids, proposals, networking, and client engagement.
- Self-motivated to achieve the vision, values, and objectives of WSP and its clients.
- Committed to delivering high-quality, timely services and achieving team/business unit objectives.
Qualifications
- Newly Chartered Building Surveyor or working towards MRICS qualification with demonstrable post-graduation experience.
