About the Role
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Project Engineer with a strong project management skillset to join a flagship project team responsible for delivering complex construction works on one of London's most iconic Grade II Listed structures. This is a rare chance to work on a nationally significant heritage asset, supporting the delivery of a major programme of construction activity within a highly sensitive live environment. The role will focus on the planning, management and execution of a range of temporary works, enabling works, logistical packages and cut-and-carve construction activities, requiring a professional who can successfully bridge both engineering and project management disciplines.

You will play a pivotal role in coordinating multiple stakeholders, managing specialist subcontractors, driving programme certainty and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and with the utmost respect for the historic fabric of the building.

This position would suit an ambitious Senior Project Engineer, Project Engineer, Civil Engineer or Construction Project Manager seeking a unique opportunity to contribute to a landmark project that will be recognised across the industry.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and delivery of temporary works, structural modifications and logistical construction activities.
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of cut-and-carve and enabling works packages, ensuring programme, quality and cost objectives are achieved.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including design consultants, specialist subcontractors, temporary works designers and site teams.
- Develop and maintain detailed construction programmes, monitoring progress and mitigating risks where necessary.
- Ensure all temporary works are planned, designed, coordinated and executed in accordance with statutory and project requirements.
- Act as the key interface between engineering, operations and commercial teams.
- Manage stakeholder relationships across client, consultant and contractor organisations.
- Oversee technical reviews, design coordination meetings and engineering workshops.
- Monitor project risks and implement robust mitigation strategies.
- Review engineering proposals, construction methodologies and sequencing plans.
- Drive a proactive health, safety and environmental culture across all workstreams.
- Ensure works comply with heritage, conservation and planning requirements.
- Support procurement activities and manage specialist subcontractor performance.
- Prepare progress reports and present updates to senior leadership and project stakeholders.
- Champion innovation and identify opportunities to improve construction methodologies and project outcomes.

Requirements

Experience
- Significant experience delivering complex construction, civil engineering or structural engineering projects.
- Demonstrable experience managing temporary works and complex logistical construction activities.
- Strong track record of delivering cut-and-carve, refurbishment, structural alteration or heritage projects.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams and specialist subcontractors.
- Experience working on listed buildings, historic structures or heritage projects is desirable.
- Experience working within constrained urban environments and live operational facilities is desirable.

About You
We are looking for a technically strong engineering professional who can combine excellent project management capability with a collaborative and solutions-focused approach.

Essential qualities include excellent communication and presentation skills, strong commercial awareness, and a thorough understanding of health and safety legislation and construction best practice.

You should be able to manage stakeholder relationships effectively and drive a proactive health, safety and environmental culture across all workstreams.

Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) at Incorporated Engineer (IEng), Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent level.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is desirable.
- Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) qualification is desirable.
- Knowledge of BIM and digital construction techniques is desirable.
