About the Role
We are seeking Senior Registered Building Inspectors to play a pivotal role within our Planning & Building Standards service. In this senior position, you will provide a comprehensive range of professional building control services for a designated area within and beyond the Borough of Haringey. Your responsibilities will include plan checking, site inspections, mentoring and supervising junior staff, handling validations, and leading the determination of complex Building Regulations applications. You will also manage enforcement activities and dangerous structures inspections, including participation in an out-of-hours inspection rota.
Haringey Building Control is responsible for safety at Sports Grounds and provides technical safety advice and inspections for other licensed events within the borough. You will assist the Building Safety Regulator with applications on high-risk buildings and ensure KPIs are met. This role offers an exciting opportunity to significantly improve the built environment for residents and businesses and to be at the forefront of implementing the new building safety regime.

Experience
Substantial relevant experience in delivering and supervising building control services, including enforcement and dangerous structures inspections. Experience working within the scope of the Building Safety Regulator is essential.

You will be a motivated professional with excellent knowledge of building regulations and processes, able to read and interpret drawings, plans, and technical information accurately. You are skilled in implementing change and improvement processes, mentoring and motivating others, and consistently producing high-quality work under pressure. Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills are essential to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and build confident, trusting relationships with local communities and stakeholders. You are adept at negotiating and influencing outcomes with tact and diplomacy.
Qualifications
Registered with the Building Safety Regulator at minimum Class 2F. Membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS, ABE, CABE, or CIOB is required. Ideally educated to degree level in a relevant subject or possess equivalent demonstrable learning.
