About the Role
We are pleased to invite applications for 2x Senior Social Worker roles within the London Borough of Newham’s Domestic Abuse Hub. This is a fixed term opportunity for 12 months, working within the Children and Young People Directorate. The Domestic Abuse Hub is a newly developing service focused on providing a direct response to children as victims of domestic violence and abuse. We are seeking skilled, passionate, and experienced social workers to join us in pioneering this vital service.
As a Senior Social Worker, you will have at least 4 years post-qualifying experience working with children and families facing complex challenges, including victim/survivors of domestic abuse. You will bring significant knowledge of relevant research and practice approaches related to Violence Against Women and Girls, alongside experience in coaching, mentoring, or supervising staff.
The successful candidates will play an integral role in delivering the Hub’s services and have the opportunity to influence and develop practice aligned with LB Newham’s approach. You will support Children and Young People’s Domestic Violence Advisors (CIDVA) in offering a range of interventions to support children’s recovery and collaborate closely with Social Care Teams to deliver direct work. Additionally, you will contribute to the delivery of the Domestic Abuse Delivery Model Action Plan, embedding a trauma-responsive, systemic, relational, and anti-oppressive response across services.
Experience
- Minimum of 4 years post-qualifying experience working with children and families facing complex challenges
- Experience working with victim/survivors of domestic abuse
- Knowledge of Violence Against Women and Girls research and practice approaches
- Experience in coaching, mentoring, or supervising staff

- Ability to provide consultation, support, and advice to colleagues and partners on domestic abuse recognition and response
Qualifications
- Relevant social work qualification and registration
- Practice Educator qualification or willingness to undertake this role to supervise student social workers
