About the Role
The Senior Solution Architect at Burberry provides architectural leadership for the company’s most complex and strategically important delivery initiatives. Anchored to a primary domain, this role builds deep business, platform and technology context over time, ensuring continuity across squads, programmes and roadmaps. As part of the central Architecture function, the Senior Solution Architect also supports cross-domain programmes and high-priority initiatives requiring broader solution design oversight.

This role translates enterprise architecture direction into practical, scalable, secure, and supportable solution designs aligned with Burberry’s technology strategy. Acting as a bridge between Enterprise Architects and delivery teams, the Senior Solution Architect provides senior design assurance, resolves architectural trade-offs, surfaces delivery insights back into enterprise architecture, and coaches Solution Architects to enhance quality and consistency.

Key responsibilities include leading end-to-end solution design across application, integration, data, cloud, infrastructure and security domains; ensuring compliance with enterprise standards and guardrails; providing design assurance across multiple squads and programmes; engaging early in demand shaping and portfolio assessment; and acting as the senior technical voice in major delivery initiatives such as platform migrations, vendor implementations, and complex integrations.

The role also involves resolving architectural trade-offs, escalating where necessary, surfacing recurring risks and technical debt, contributing to reusable solution patterns and design playbooks, and participating in architecture governance forums to provide solution-level assurance and decision support.

Experience
Significant experience in solution architecture, leading design across complex, multi-system and cross-domain initiatives.
Strong technical breadth across application, integration, data, cloud, security and infrastructure architecture, with depth in one or more specialist areas.
Proven ability to translate enterprise architecture direction into practical, implementable solution designs.
Experience providing design assurance and architectural governance across product, programme and partner-led delivery.
Credible technical authority, able to constructively challenge engineering teams, vendors and third-party partners on design quality and long-term fit.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of explaining architectural trade-offs and recommendations clearly to senior technical and business stakeholders.
Experience coaching or mentoring Solution Architects or technical design leads.
Comfortable operating in a matrixed organisation, balancing domain alignment with flexibility across high-priority demand.
Experience working in Agile, hybrid or squad-based delivery models is preferred.
Experience with core enterprise platforms such as SAP, Salesforce, Databricks, integration middleware or cloud platforms is preferred.
