About the Role

Achieving this ambition requires uniting Shell’s strategic and technical expertise across data, strategy, architecture, and innovation to drive transformative shifts in IT. We are seeking a skilled and seasoned Senior Solution Architect to enhance automation and fully harness data and innovation within Shell’s Trading & Supply global transformation.

This role focuses on the implementation of our Energy Trade & Risk Management (ETRM) solution on Azure, creating a scalable, secure, and strategic landscape that transforms Shell’s Trading capabilities. You will support the Global Products organisation as we establish Endur as the global backbone ETRM platform and help design a modular, cloud-native architecture built for flexibility, resilience, and data centricity.

As part of the design phase, you will influence architectural decisions from the ground up, define how a modern ETRM landscape should operate at global scale, and drive integration of processes, data, and systems across the value chain. Key responsibilities include:
- Provide architecture and technical leadership, fostering collaboration and driving consensus
- Shape and transform the architectural role, identifying opportunities and delivering impact beyond initial remit
- Serve as primary contact for architectural aspects of IT projects
- Integrate business process, data, application, technical, and information security into cohesive IT solutions
- Document solution architectures using Shell’s standards and tooling
- Guide designers and business analysts during design phases
- Review and approve detailed solution designs
- Support Lead Architect and participate in Architecture Review Board sessions
- Contribute to Reference Model stewardship and enhancement
- Monitor emerging IT technologies to design future-ready solutions
- Stay aligned with Shell IT standards and services
- Champion architectural excellence and engage stakeholders to drive strategic improvements

Experience
- Extensive background in Trading IT with hands-on expertise in OpenLink Endur
- Deep knowledge of the end-to-end Trading Business from deal inception to settlement
- Proven experience delivering software and architecture in Commodities Trading
- Strong ownership of technical architecture, design, and standards
- Confident leadership of architectural decisions across portfolios
- Experience with TOGAF or similar frameworks and Enterprise Architecture tooling
- Hands-on experience implementing OpenLink Endur modules and services
- Expertise in architecting applications on Azure platform including migrations and cloud-native design
- Experience designing containers, microservices, federated data platforms (Data Mesh)
- Solid data architecture skills including logical data models and medallion-style architecture
- Proficiency with SQL, NoSQL, big data, streaming, IoT, and event-driven architectures
- Significant experience with Azure services such as Functions, Web Apps, Event Hub, Data Factory, Kubernetes, CosmosDB, and API Management
- Substantial CI/CD and DevOps experience with tools like Git, GitHub, Azure DevOps, Terraform, and Ansible
- Practical agile experience in both startup and enterprise environments
- Strong documentation and coordination skills addressing business process, data, application, technical, and security aspects

Qualifications
- Expertise in one or more programming languages such as Node.js, .Net, .Net Core, Python
- Experience with front-end technologies including React and Micro frontend architectures
- Knowledge of data development technologies including SQL, NoSQL, and cloud datastores
- Exposure to SAP HANA, Salesforce, API management, and multifactor authentication is desirable
- TOGAF or equivalent Enterprise Architecture certification preferred
- Motivation letter required outlining reasons for applying and alignment with role requirements
