We are seeking a skilled and seasoned Solution Architect to enhance automation and fully harness data and innovation.
In this pivotal role, you will contribute to Shell’s Trading & Supply global transformation by implementing our Energy Trade & Risk Management (ETRM) solution on Azure. You will help create a scalable, secure, and strategic landscape that enables the transformation of Shell’s Trading capabilities. This opportunity supports the Global Products organisation as we establish Endur as the global backbone ETRM platform.
You will shape a future-ready, cloud-native architecture built with flexibility, resilience, and data centricity at its core. Influencing architectural decisions from the ground up, you will define how a modern ETRM landscape should operate at global scale and drive a paradigm shift in integrating processes, data, and systems across the value chain.

Key responsibilities include:
- Provide strong leadership, foster collaboration, drive consensus, and communicate complex technical concepts effectively
- Lead architectural decisions and play a key role in shaping and transforming the role itself
- Serve as the primary contact for architectural aspects of IT projects
- Integrate business process, data, application, technical, and information security dimensions into cohesive IT solutions
- Document solution architectures using standard templates and tooling complying with Shell’s architectural standards
- Guide detailed designers and business analysts during the design phase and review solution designs
- Support Lead Architect and participate in Architecture Review Board sessions
- Contribute to documentation and maintenance of Reference Models in BizzDesign or other tooling
- Monitor emerging IT technologies and apply insights to design future-ready solutions
- Stay informed of Shell’s IT standards and ensure incorporation into solution designs
- Champion architectural excellence and engage with stakeholders to drive strategic improvements
Experience
- Extensive background in Trading IT with hands-on expertise in OpenLink Endur
- Deep knowledge of the end-to-end Trading Business from deal inception through to settlement
- Proven experience delivering software and architecture in Commodities Trading
- Strong ownership of technical architecture, design, and standards
- Experience leading architectural decisions across portfolios and managing divergent opinions
- Familiarity with TOGAF or similar frameworks and Enterprise Architecture tooling
- Hands-on experience implementing OpenLink Endur modules and services
- Expertise in architecting applications on Azure platform, including migrations and cloud-native development
- Experience designing containers, Microservices, Cloud Native applications, and federated Data platforms (Data Mesh)
- Solid experience in Data Architecture, logical data models, and modern data platforms
- Strong knowledge of data management, pipeline development, warehousing, storage, lifecycle management, privacy, and security
- Proficiency with diverse data types including big data, streaming, IoT, and time series
- Significant experience with Azure services such as Functions, Web Apps, Event Hub, Kafka, Data Factory, Data Lake, Kubernetes Service, CosmosDB, and SQL
- Integration experience with Confluent/Kafka, API Management, Logic Apps
- Substantial experience in CI/CD delivery using Git, GitHub, Azure DevOps, Terraform, and Ansible
- Practical agile experience in both start-up and enterprise environments
- Leadership in engineering standards and collaborative technical decision-making

Qualifications
- Expertise in one or more programming languages such as Node.js, .Net, .Net Core, Python
- Experience with front-end technologies, specifically React and Micro frontend
- Knowledge of data development technologies including SQL, NoSQL, and cloud datastores
- Exposure to SAP HANA, Salesforce, API management, and multifactor authentication is desirable
- TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture certification preferred
- Relevant technical certifications in cloud platforms and architecture advantageous
