About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark projects within the fast-paced Data Centre sector as part of our Mission Critical Facilities team. This role focuses on delivering electrical engineering solutions for data centres, working with Colocation Providers, End Users, and Enterprise clients across the UK and EMEA. You will be involved in developing conceptual designs for electrical distribution systems from EHV, HV, MV to Low Voltage, including high voltage equipment, generation equipment, UPS plant, low voltage switchgear, and power control and monitoring systems. Your responsibilities will include providing expert advice to clients, leading the design of data centre electrical systems, producing technical specifications and reports, coordinating with other disciplines such as Architects and Structural Engineers, and monitoring installations to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety codes. You will work independently and collaboratively within a global project team and engage in client-facing discussions to agree on technical requirements. Requirements

Experience
- Chartered status with CIBSE or IET (or working towards Chartered status) or equivalent experience
- Technical knowledge of relevant UK & EU regulations and design guides
- Experience with electrical design for large power (11kV) distribution systems, electrical building load assessments, standby generation and UPS, fire/voice alarm and security systems, data centres, financial services establishments, lighting design, lifts, and combined heat and power plant
- Familiarity with ETAP software for HV modelling (fault current, current flow, harmonics)
- Understanding of Neher-McGrath method for underground cable temperature and ampacity calculations
- Knowledge of Tier classifications as defined by The Uptime Institute, TIA942, and EN50600
- Experience working with Revit MEP or other 3D design software and AutoCAD for project work allocation and direction

- Comfortable in client-facing roles with excellent communication skills to discuss and agree on technical requirements
- IT literate with technical understanding of relevant software packages such as Trimble (formerly Amtech)

Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it
- Relevant electrical engineering qualifications aligned with the role requirements
