About the Role
Do you have experience working with people with a learning disability? Are you passionate about driving change within an organisation? We have an exciting opportunity for passionate and self-motivated Skills Coaches to join our Supported Internship programme team in Kingston-upon-Thames. As a Skills Coach, you will play a central role in delivering our Mencap Training Academy, supporting learners with special educational needs (SEN) to complete all elements of the programme with tailored support. The role is based in the community classroom of our supported internship programme, supporting learners with mild to moderate learning disabilities and difficulties.
Your responsibilities will include being accountable for learner progression, ensuring young adults achieve the skills needed to progress onto paid employment. You will deliver support through 1-1 job coaching, working with learners in the classroom to develop employability skills, and embedding English and Maths learning in the workplace. Ultimately, you will help learners gain the skills required to achieve sustained paid employment.
Experience
- Experience of supporting people with learning disabilities or SEN
- Experience of delivering against targets
- Knowledge of safe working practices
- Knowledge of the sector
About you
Effective communicator with good ICT skills. You will be motivated, passionate about supporting learners, and committed to helping them succeed. You will maintain effective record keeping and reporting to track learner progress.
Qualifications
- GCSE English and Maths at grade A-C/9-4 or equivalent (evidence required at interview)
- No specific qualifications beyond this are required, but a positive attitude and commitment to learning are essential.
