About the Role
We are seeking a passionate Social Care Officer to join the Family Support and Safeguarding Service (FSSS) within the London Borough of Newham. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families. You will support social workers with assessments and interventions, assist with specialist tasks such as chronologies, genograms, life-story work, and direct work with children. You will contribute to home visits alongside social workers, help complete case closure tasks, and liaise with partner agencies to gather information for assessments and safeguarding enquiries.

Additional responsibilities include supporting the development of multi-agency safeguarding plans by analysing and sharing relevant information, taking accurate minutes for key meetings (CIN, CGM, PLO, strategy meetings, etc.), maintaining high-quality, timely, and accurate case records in line with statutory requirements, and handling enquiries from families and professionals sensitively and professionally.

You will organise service meetings, diaries, venues, and follow-up processes to ensure smooth service operations, manage onboarding tasks for new staff, support recruitment activities, and provide administrative and coordination support for small projects and service requests. Maintaining data accuracy on systems such as Azeus, ensuring compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, equality, and diversity standards, and supporting practical arrangements such as bookings, ordering supplies, and managing documentation are also key parts of this role.

Furthermore, you will coordinate, facilitate, and where relevant supervise contact arrangements for children and families and record outcomes. The role also involves undertaking tasks as a family support worker, supporting children and their parents/carers within their homes or communities.
