About the Role
A rare opportunity to join our experienced team at one of the UK’s most long established and successful Outdoor Education Centres. This role is ideal for a dynamic Outdoor Educator with an interest in learning outside of the classroom. Fairplay Outdoor Education Centre is passionate about using outdoor activities as a tool for personal, social and group development. Growth mindset and building resilience are the foundations of our work.
Fairplay Outdoor Education Centre, owned by the London Borough of Newham and based near Witham in Essex, offers a wide range of land and water-based activities for schools, businesses, youth groups and clubs. Situated in a spectacular and inspiring 12-acre parkland garden less than an hour’s drive from London, the centre provides tailored, flexible Outdoor Education Programmes primarily for children. Residential facilities accommodate up to 79 pupils and 8 staff.
The centre offers a variety of Outdoor and Adventurous Activities including climbing, abseiling, high ropes, zip wire, high swing, caving, environmental studies, beach combing, orienteering, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and raft building. These activities are delivered mainly to primary age children who stay with their teachers.

Experience
You will have a minimum of two National Governing Body Qualifications covering a range of outdoor pursuits and fieldwork activities including:
- Zip Wire
- Giant Swing
- Mountain Biking
- Archery
- Orienteering
- Caving
- Sailing/Canoeing/Kayaking (desirable)
- Climbing/High Ropes (desirable)

You will enjoy working with children in the outdoors and be passionate about outdoor education as a tool for personal and social development. You should be dynamic, enthusiastic and committed to building resilience and a growth mindset in young people.
Qualifications
Minimum of two National Governing Body Qualifications relevant to outdoor education activities as listed above.
