Location
43-45 Bromley Road, Catford SE6 2UA, South East London. The office is a 7-10 minute walk from two local train stations, with a 15-minute train journey from London Bridge. Numerous bus routes also serve the area. The role operates a hybrid working model, requiring regular work both in the office and from home.

Hours
Full-time hours, details to be confirmed during the recruitment process.

Salary
£45,852 - £47,925 per annum (SW / SCP 31-33). All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point for the grade, except where matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale) is evidenced.

About the Role
Join Lewisham’s Children and Young People’s Directorate as a Social Worker delivering statutory social work services to Children Looked After (16+), Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC), and those Leaving Care. You will undertake assessment, intervention, case planning, and review, working collaboratively with foster carers, birth families, adopters, Special Guardians, education and health colleagues, and other partners to provide coordinated, trauma-informed support. The service includes specialist social workers, personal advisors, a Leaving Care Nurse, Career Coaches, and a Mentoring service, all co-located at the CLA/Leaving Care Hub.

As a key team member, you will take a curious and holistic approach to supporting children and young people to keep safe and well. Your expertise will contribute to delivering statutory social work and leaving care responsibilities in line with Lewisham’s Corporate Parenting and related strategies.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience working with Children Looked After, Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children, and Care Leavers/Care Experienced young people. Strong background in safeguarding and statutory social work, including knowledge of current childcare legislation and practice. Expertise in supporting unaccompanied minors and asylum seekers. Demonstrated leadership skills.

Able to work collaboratively within a multi-agency environment, valuing partnership working and clear decision making. Embraces regular supervision and reflective practice.

Qualifications
A degree in social work or equivalent qualification is essential. Registration with Social Work England is required. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
