About the Role
Are you a committed, experienced, qualified and knowledgeable Social Worker looking to further your career in Adult Social Care? Join Croydon Council and contribute to empowering and supporting people who need signposting, community support, or direct help from the Council. This permanent role is based within an older person’s locality team, focusing on case work and community liaison through GP Huddles and ICN+ Partnership, working closely with health and voluntary sector partners.

We offer a stable and supportive environment with established Team Managers, dedicated Training Officers, and a Principal Social Worker to support your welfare, practice, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Our innovative council has upgraded electronic recording systems, implemented “Magic Notes” for efficient assessments and reports, and is developing “Patienteer,” a data sharing system with health and third sector partners. New IT equipment is also being rolled out for staff.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain knowledge and experience working with vulnerable adults, their families, and representatives. You will develop links and networks within a locality setting, utilising various support options available from the Council and its partners.

Croydon Council values professionalism, creativity, and drive in person-centred practice and problem solving. We support flexible working arrangements, including the option to work from home on selected days. Our transport links are excellent, and our friendly staff create a welcoming working environment.

We are committed to realistic caseloads supported by a Council-wide programme of learning, development, and career progression opportunities, including a strong Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) programme and post-qualification training.

The role focuses on locality and community-based working with an emphasis on Strength Based approaches, including work with older people, residents affected by hoarding and self-neglect behaviours.

Requirements

Experience
You must be a qualified and registered Social Worker with Social Work England, with over two years post-qualifying experience. Ideally, you will have successfully completed your Assessed Year in Supported Employment (ASYE). Applications from non-qualified staff will not be considered.

About you
You will demonstrate a commitment to team working, professionalism, creativity, and the ability to work flexibly in a rapidly changing public service environment. You should have enthusiasm for person-centred practice and problem solving, and a passion for contributing ideas that support service development.

Qualifications
Qualified Social Worker status registered with Social Work England is essential. Completion of ASYE is desirable.
