About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Social Worker to join our Community Duty and Safeguarding Team within Lambeth Council. This fast-paced frontline role involves triaging referrals, managing urgent situations, and delivering timely interventions to safeguard adults at risk. You will work with adults aged 18 and over who may have physical health conditions, learning disabilities, or other vulnerabilities. Key responsibilities include undertaking safeguarding investigations, completing reviews, and developing support plans to ensure person-centred care. You will carry out urgent home visits, assess needs, respond to safeguarding concerns, and complete Mental Capacity Assessments in line with legal frameworks. Strong partnership working with health professionals, care providers, housing, and other agencies is essential to coordinate effective outcomes. This role requires resilience, organisation, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy duty environment. Joining Lambeth means contributing to a vibrant, diverse community with bold ambitions for the future through the Lambeth 2030 Plan. You will be part of a supportive team committed to promoting independence, dignity, and safety for adults in the community.
Experience
Experience in safeguarding or duty work is desirable but not essential. Transferable skills such as risk assessment, case management, partnership working, and the ability to analyse and apply information to support decision-making are welcomed. You will be supported to develop your knowledge and skills within the role.
About you
You are proactive, conscientious, flexible, and able to work efficiently in a challenging financial environment. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential for liaising with internal teams and external partners. You must be organised, resilient, and able to prioritise effectively while managing competing demands. A commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care and safeguarding outcomes is vital.
Qualifications
Relevant social work qualifications and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) are required to practice as a Social Worker.
