About the Role
The Private Sector Enforcement Officer / Environmental Health Officer (EHO) will carry out Environmental Health functions to enable Lambeth Council to meet its statutory obligations in relation to private sector housing licensing. This includes inspection, enforcement, education, and advice within the private rented sector. The postholder will act as an Authorised Officer of the Council under the current scheme of delegation, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
Working within the Private Sector Licensing and Enforcement team, you will contribute to improving housing conditions and ensuring tenants live in decent homes. The team provides frontline services supporting private tenants, homeowners, and landlords, with a focus on enforcement and raising housing standards. This is a dynamic and forward-thinking team offering opportunities for professional development and growth.

Experience
Experience in environmental health enforcement, housing standards, or a related field is desirable. Proven ability to carry out inspections and enforcement activities in line with statutory requirements is advantageous.

Qualifications
Relevant professional qualifications in Environmental Health or equivalent are required. The postholder will be expected to act as an Authorised Officer under the Council’s scheme of delegation, which may require appropriate statutory authorisations and registrations.
