As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the AI/ML Data Platforms business, you will be an integral part of a team that enhances, builds, and delivers trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You will act as a core technical contributor, responsible for delivering critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions to support the firm's objectives. Your primary clients will be AI Research (AIR) and the Machine Learning Centre of Excellence (MLCoE).

In this role, you will work closely with Data Scientists and AI Researchers to advance experiments into robust, scalable, and highly optimized production-grade applications. You will develop software applications for AI/ML platforms and build Generative AI-based applications including Agents. Utilizing creative problem-solving skills, you will design, develop, and troubleshoot technical solutions, thinking beyond conventional approaches to innovate and resolve complex challenges.

You will proactively identify opportunities to streamline, eliminate, or automate remediation of recurring issues and developer challenges, enhancing operational efficiency and excellence of software applications and systems. You will lead cross-team evaluation sessions to drive outcomes-oriented reviews of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability within existing systems and information architecture.

Driving team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices, you will improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes by establishing consistent validation standards such as secure coding, peer review, and automated testing. You will promote reuse of effective patterns across the team and apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities.

As a leader, you will mentor engineers within the team and guide junior engineers as well as researchers and data scientists as they prototype solutions. You will contribute to a team culture that values diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.

Experience
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with applied full stack development experience.
- Practical experience in Infrastructure as Code development, ideally using Terraform.
- Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability.
- Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, with a strong focus on Python.
- Expertise in automation and continuous integration, delivery, and testing (CI/CD/CT) methods.
- Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting).
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Model Development Life Cycle (MDLC).
- Deep understanding of agile methodologies and basic proficiency in architectural frameworks.
- Demonstrated proficiency in platform development and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, AI, machine learning, mobile).
