Here at Peabody, we have an opportunity for a Specialist Support Worker - Young Persons Service on a permanent basis at our scheme in St Albans, High Oaks. High Oaks, an Ofsted Regulated Scheme, is part of Peabody's young person's service (YPS) in Hertfordshire, a supported housing scheme with 8 bedrooms that is supervised across 7 days, 24 hours per day. What we’re looking for: Have you got the life skills and experience it takes to support young people in their journey towards independent living? Could you plan and deliver activities which are fun and meaningful and help move our young customers closer to their goals? Are you an enthusiastic support worker with a strong desire to work with vulnerable and complex young people to achieve positive outcomes? Can you work just as effectively as part of a team as you can by yourself? Do you have great IT (Word//Excel) and communication skills with a knack for creating good professional working relationships? If so, then Peabody has the perfect opportunity for you! A bit about the role: As a Specialist Support Worker - Young Persons Service , you will be working with a team of highly motivated, compassionate, and d edicated colleagues supporting a caseload of young customers. You’ll need to meet each customer weekly to help them with their goals and discuss their progress. You’ll also need to deliver various activities a few times each month, so having an idea of the skills you have which you can teach someone else would be great. And, when someone’s ready to move on, we'll rely on you to help them access the housing register or look for suitable rented accommodation. Relevant experience would be an advantage, as would an understanding of safeguarding and knowledge of the benefit system. But just as important may well be skills and knowledge which you have in other areas which you can share like sport, music, games, gardening, or a love of film.
