Specialist Support Workers
Peabody
Description
Have you got the life skills and experience it takes to support young people in their journey towards independent living? Could you plan and deliver activities which are fun and meaningful and help move our young residents closer to their goals? Then Peabody has the perfect opportunity for you.
About Peabody
It started over 160 years ago with one man’s desire to improve the lives of poverty-stricken Londoners. Today, we have 107,000 homes and 220,000 residents across London and the Home Counties and around 20,000 care and support customers. But the desire remains the same – to create homes and communities where people can flourish. Our Young Persons Service (YPS), which supports 16–25-year-olds with varying needs, aims to prepare them to live independently. Why not join us and see the positive difference you could make to their lives.
What you’ll be doing
As a Specialist Support Worker, you’ll be working with a team of highly motivated, compassionate, and dedicated colleagues supporting a caseload of young residents. You’ll need to meet each resident weekly to help them with their goals and discuss their progress. You’ll also need to deliver various activities a few times each month, so having an idea of the skills you have which you can teach someone else would be great. And, when someone’s ready to move on, we'll rely on you to help them access the housing register or look for suitable rented accommodation.
Put simply, if you’ve ever wanted a job where you can really make a positive difference to someone’s life, this is it.
What we’re looking for
Are you an enthusiastic support worker with a strong desire to work with vulnerable and complex young people to achieve positive outcomes? Can you work just as effectively as part of a team as you can by yourself? If you have great IT (Word / Excel) and communication skills with a knack for creating good professional working relationships we want to hear from you.
Relevant experience would be an advantage, as would an understanding of safeguarding and knowledge of the benefit system. But just as important may well be skills and knowledge which you have in other areas which you can share like sport, music, games, gardening, or a love of film. All these things would make you a great addition to the Peabody Young Persons Service team.
There are various roles covering full and part-time hours, so we’re sure to have something to suit you. Current vacancies across Hertfordshire include:
