About the Role
The Surveillance Manager and Grading Lead is responsible for the delivery of screening and monitoring using digital retinal photography, SLB, and OCT in line with national and local standards. You will independently analyze retinal images and OCT scans, grade them according to local protocols, and make clinical decisions for onward referral or monitoring. You will also explain the results of screening to patients, conduct screening clinics, and ensure the highest standards in all skill areas. Additionally, you will lead the operational management of the surveillance arm, manage service improvements, draft clinical protocols, and ensure compliance with Trust Policies and Procedures. This role includes full line management responsibilities for the surveillance team, maintaining a robust quality assurance system, and leading clinical audit and quality improvement projects.

Requirements

Experience
Previous experience in a clinical setting, particularly in retinal screening or similar services, is essential. Proven ability to manage a team and lead service improvements is required.

You possess excellent communication skills and are capable of educating and advising patients effectively. You are proactive in identifying service improvements and implementing changes.

Qualifications
A relevant clinical qualification is required. Additional certifications in retinal imaging or related fields would be advantageous.
