About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager who will be responsible for all aspects of taxation within the business – Corporation tax, VAT, transfer pricing, customs & duties, and PSA. You will play a pivotal role in contributing to our Company Values – One Team, Test & Learn, Choose to Care, and Customer First. Your creativity and ability to think ‘outside the box’ will be encouraged, including using AI and technology to optimise current processes and drive transformation for the future.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will work closely with financial reporting, Corporate tax, and external tax consultants to deliver all aspects of tax reporting and submissions. You will keep abreast of the latest tax legislation, ensuring the business is well prepared for any changes. You will review and mitigate tax risks, ensuring internal controls and policies comply with evolving tax laws. With support from the Financial Controller, you will manage HMRC queries and maintain an open, transparent relationship with the tax authority.
VAT Responsibilities: Prepare and review quarterly UK Group VAT submissions with the financial reporting team, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Periodically review VAT accounts to ensure correct transaction postings and provide coaching to AP and AR staff as needed. Explore AI opportunities to automate checks, flag transactions requiring review, and reduce manual intervention. Review and reconcile VAT accounts, ensuring proper documentation for audit trails. Provide expert guidance on VAT matters, ensuring tax implications on commercial contracts are correctly accounted for.
Corporation Tax: Collaborate with external consultants to deliver corporation tax computations and submissions, ensuring timely tax analyses. Update and review tax provisions for statutory accounts, including tax reconciliation and deferred tax substantiation. Manage internal tax reporting and work with the Corporate tax team to meet group tax requirements such as Pillar 2 and country-by-country reporting. Manage the annual tax cycle and seek opportunities to improve efficiency.
Other Taxes and Responsibilities: Periodically review customs and duties payments prepared by the Logistics team and shipping agents. Prepare and review employee expenses under the PAYE settlement agreement, ensuring correct accounting. Prepare and review local transfer pricing documentation, ensuring accuracy and consistency with group documentation. Undertake ad hoc projects and assignments as directed by the Financial Controller, continuously developing your skills to support evolving business needs.
