About the Role
The Tenant Management Organisation (TMO) Services Team within Hackney Council is seeking experienced professionals to support TMOs in delivering high-quality housing services to residents. This role offers the chance to join a small specialist team working closely with TMO staff, board members, and colleagues across Housing and the wider Council.
As a TMO Liaison Officer, you will provide strategic and operational support to Hackney’s TMOs, maintaining an effective client monitoring and assurance framework. You will advise on and monitor TMO governance, financial performance, compliance, and service delivery, ensuring agreed standards and responsibilities are understood and appropriately monitored.
You will build constructive professional relationships with TMO boards and managers, confidently challenge performance or governance concerns when necessary, and work across Council services to resolve complex issues, clarify responsibilities, and ensure residents on TMO-managed estates receive effective services.
The role involves interpreting management agreements, policies, procedures, and relevant legislation to provide clear advice to a range of audiences. You will occasionally be required to attend evening meetings.
Hackney Council is a dynamic and progressive local authority committed to equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. We value our staff highly and seek individuals who embody our "PROUD" values: Purpose and Respect, Ownership, Unity, and Diversity. We are dedicated to creating a workplace where everyone can be proud and thrive.
Experience
Experience in housing, governance, performance, compliance, finance, or resident-led services is desirable. A good understanding of social housing and resident involvement is important.
About you
You should have strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to analyse performance and financial information. You must be comfortable interpreting complex documents and translating them into clear advice. The role requires someone who can bring constructive challenge, develop effective relationships, and contribute ideas to strengthen monitoring, assurance, and partnership arrangements.
Qualifications
Specific qualifications are not stated; however, relevant experience and a commitment to the values and goals of Hackney Council are essential.
