About the Role
We are looking to recruit the next generation of Trading Standards Officers to join our Trading Standards team. This is a fantastic opportunity to study for a qualification in Trading Standards whilst earning a salary.

As a Trading Standards Apprentice, you will undertake the CSA Trading Standards Level 6 apprenticeship training programme. When not in classroom studies, your learning and development will be supported by experienced Trading Standards Officers who will help you develop your professional skills, knowledge and enforcement experience.

You will qualify as a Trading Standards Professional capable of working across various disciplines, which depending on the option module chosen (based on service needs), may include Product Safety, Food, Feed, or Weights and Measures. This role has a strong emphasis on learning the law relating to tobacco and nicotine products and enforcement.

In Trading Standards, our work is varied and no two days are the same. You will be involved in a wide range of activities and projects, ensuring a fair, safe and legal trading environment. As a member of the team, you will assist with routine inspections, advising businesses, underage test purchase operations, investigating complaints and criminal investigations.

As you progress through the training programme and develop your competencies, you will undertake your own investigations and enforcement activities, including taking witness statements and writing prosecution reports.

This is a fixed-term opportunity for 3 years. External applicants will be offered a fixed-term contract and existing Ealing Council employees will be offered the opportunity of a secondment.

Experience
No prior experience is required. This role is ideal for those entering the employment market in the early stages of their career or mid-career professionals seeking to develop new skills.
