An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and creative Tutor, to join our Supported Internship programme. The role is permanent on a part time (22.5 hours per week) basis in London. Working days will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. You will have the opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team. You will help young people with a learning disability, learning difficulty and/or autism access the world of work.
As a Tutor on Mencap's Internship programme you will teach English and Maths by embedding it into lessons about employability. You will also teach further life skills that will have a direct impact on the way your learners interact with their wider community. To facilitate and create your lesson plans, you will be given at least one full day of planning and admin time a week.

Mencap's Internships combines education andwork experience to prepare our learners for employment. As a Tutor you will focus on thedelivery of the educational element of Supported Internships programmes. You will work closely with a group of Skills Coaches to provide holistic support in finding paid employment.
As a Tutor you will deliver elements of teaching, learning and assessment to learners including accredited functional skills in both English and Mathematics.
This Tutor role would suit a highly motivated and qualified teacher. Does this sound like you?
Do you have the key skills and requirements for a Tutor? (essential):
- Experience of supporting people
- Experience of delivering against targets
- Experience of working with a diverse group of learners
- A-C/9-4 English & Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
- Recognised teaching qualification at level 5 (DTLLS, PGCE, CertEd)
- Knowledge and experience of delivering and assessing functional skills English and Maths up to level 2
- Experience & knowledge of safe working practices
- Good classroom management skills and strategies
- Good time management and planning skills

All candidates offered an interview for this role will need to provide evidence of their GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent). You will also be asked for proof of your teaching qualification.

Salary parameters as follows;
- £28,091 FTE with evidenced Level 3/4 Teaching Qualification
- £30,172 FTE with evidenced Level 5 Teaching Qualification
- £35,700 FTE with evidenced Level 5 Teaching Qualification, plus a minimum of 2 years SEN teaching experience
