As the UK Logistics Manager, you will lead domestic distribution and international freight operations, driving our import/export strategy to ensure seamless cross-border trade while identifying cost savings and process improvements. This dynamic role goes beyond day-to-day freight management, positioning you as the subject matter expert on UK customs and international trade regulations. You will also lead supply chain integrations during Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and optimise repair and reverse logistics networks to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all UK inbound and outbound international freight activities ensuring full compliance with global trade regulations
- Maintain and leverage Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status and lead HMRC/customs audits
- Manage export licences and ensure adherence to controlled goods regulations
- Apply expertise in VAT, tariffs, and duties to optimise landed costs and mitigate financial risks
- Manage relationships with third-party carriers, freight forwarders, and 3PL providers including contract negotiation
- Design and manage repair and reverse logistics workflows to minimise turnaround times
- Continuously analyse supply chain data to identify bottlenecks and implement Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
- Lead logistics integration during M&A, assessing target supply chains and integrating acquired networks
- Apply strong knowledge of UK freight market, transport regulations, and infrastructure to optimise routing and carrier selection
Experience
- Substantial experience in logistics, domestic distribution, and international freight management within the UK market
- Proven track record managing AEO accreditations, export licensing, and complex HMRC/customs audits
- Strong understanding of international trade tax implications with a history of delivering cost savings
- Extensive experience selecting, negotiating with, and managing third-party freight forwarders and carriers
- Desired: Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory control to support end-to-end supply chain alignment
- Advantageous: Previous exposure to M&A integrations, supply chain restructuring, or complex project management
