About the Role
The Financial Times is a globally recognised news organisation known for its authority, integrity and accuracy. We are seeking a User Researcher to join our Product Design & User Research team in London. You will work closely with empowered squads of designers, product managers, engineers and the Newsroom, supported by stakeholders across the FT including data and marketing teams. Your role will involve using a wide range of research methods to gain deep insights into our audiences and help deliver end-to-end product experiences. This includes exploratory research, opportunity definition, ideation, concept testing, shipping, measuring and iterating. You will receive regular guidance from your squads, line manager, Director of Product Research & Design, and the research team. We foster a collaborative and safe environment where sharing and discussing work proactively is encouraged to inspire and support each other.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prioritise initiatives alongside cross-functional teams based on company objectives
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers and others through all stages of discovery and development
- Design, plan and conduct generative research activities suited to team objectives and timelines
- Uncover user behaviours and motivations using relevant methodologies
- Map user experiences, journeys and flows to identify pain points and opportunities
- Communicate insights to support strategic decision-making
- Help evolve ideas into concepts and iterate based on research learnings
- Share insights creatively across squads and the wider business
- Continuously improve research processes and product outcomes

Requirements

Experience
- Minimum 3 years as a user researcher in product teams
- Proven ability to deliver impactful insights using a variety of research methods
- Experience shipping multiple features and iterations across products

- Strong communication and presentation skills, able to tell compelling customer narratives with qualitative and quantitative data
- Proactive problem solver with good initiative to manage workload and set expectations
- Excellent collaboration skills, able to influence and build rapport across teams
- Natural curiosity and passion for understanding how people use digital products and how the FT can best meet their needs
