About the Role
Empower young voices, shape local democracy, and build lasting community partnerships across the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. You will drive youth participation borough-wide by managing key workstreams such as the RBKC Youth Council, the Youth Participation Fund, and the Youth Participation Network. Your time will be split evenly between desk-based planning and active community outreach, building strong partnerships with schools, voluntary sector organisations, youth groups, parents/carers, local businesses, and other stakeholders.

A major focus will be managing and expanding the Youth Participation Network and Fund, collaborating to connect young people with services and opportunities or co-designing these with young people using the annual Participation Fund. You will also coordinate high-profile events including the Young Leaders Awards and the Young Internship Programme, which offers paid work experience across council departments.

This role requires navigating financial constraints and council approval processes independently, building trusted relationships between residents, young people, and senior leaders with care and competence. You will work at the frontline, both in the office and out in the community, to deliver accessible, youth-friendly programmes that make a visible difference.

Experience
Proven experience working with young people, residents, or communities in a professional, voluntary, or lived experience capacity. Solid understanding of safeguarding policies relating to young people and willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check with adults and children’s barred lists.

A genuine belief that young people should shape decisions affecting them. Ability to quickly build understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing young people in Kensington & Chelsea. Highly organised, proficient with Microsoft Office and SharePoint, and confident in managing multiple projects simultaneously through smooth, inclusive processes. Strong relationship management skills and a commitment to equity and fairness, ensuring all young voices are heard and respected.

Qualifications
Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check with adults and children’s barred lists. No specific formal qualifications required, but relevant experience and a commitment to safeguarding and youth engagement are essential.
