About the Role
Join the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) Oil Research team, a market-leading group providing insightful analysis and real-time access to clients interested in crude oil and refined products markets. The team continuously monitors global supply and demand, trade flows, infrastructure outages, derivatives markets, and other financial activities to deliver comprehensive market insight.

As an Analyst or Senior Analyst, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining Python-based models of crude and refined product supply and demand balances and price forecasts, focusing on the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. You will engage in data collection and manipulation, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and assist in writing and publishing timely weekly and ad hoc special reports.

The role also involves developing PowerBI models and dashboards to distribute model outputs, preparing PowerPoint presentations based on research and datasets, and collaborating with senior analysts to build relationships with partners across the EMEA energy market.

This is an excellent opportunity to design and develop new methodologies, quantitative models, and analysis, while enhancing existing products and services within a dynamic and innovative research environment.

Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in physical oil markets or a research house, with a strong understanding of market fundamentals and the oil value chain.
- Proven background in analytics and modelling, ideally from a research advisory organisation or oil company.
- Proficiency in Python for querying, interrogating, and building models using large datasets.
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques is desirable.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Some understanding of financial markets and their impact on the oil industry is advantageous.
- Experience conducting, analysing, and reporting primary research.
- Ability to communicate market insights clearly and concisely through reports, presentations, and webinars.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Economics, Mathematics/Statistics, Engineering, or Petroleum studies from a reputable university.
- A master’s degree or technical specialization/certification is advantageous.
