About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for a qualified Anatomical Pathology Technician with experience working in a mortuary. You will take personal responsibility for delivering the full range of mortuary activities, including admission, identification, and safe storage of deceased bodies for postmortem in accordance with service procedures. You will assist pathologists with postmortem examinations following protocols, including high-risk cases when required, and work out of hours on forensic cases as needed. Working under the Human Tissue Authority (HTA) License, you will support the designated individual.

You will collaborate with community safety and emergency management teams to assist with the development and testing of emergency response plans. Additionally, you will facilitate viewings and police identifications in conjunction with the Coroner’s Office.

Experience
Demonstrable experience working in a mortuary setting is essential. Experience in high-risk and forensic postmortems is highly desirable.

You will be resilient and able to manage sensitive information securely. You must be able to handle difficult situations with professionalism and take an organised approach to managing your workload. The ability to work independently and as part of a team while managing conflicting priorities is important. A customer service focused approach is essential.

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Qualifications
You must hold a Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technician or an equivalent APT qualification. You should have technical knowledge of mortuary policy, procedures, and human anatomy, along with a good understanding of health and safety legislation and compliance with SOP and HTA guidelines.
