About the Role
Camden Council is seeking two Senior Planning Officers to join the Development Management team. You will work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, contributing to a responsive, high performing, and high quality Development Management Service. Your responsibilities will include managing a varied personal caseload of complex, major, and politically sensitive planning applications and pre-applications. This involves consultation with internal and external consultees, negotiating planning performance agreements, and securing planning obligations and contributions through CIL/S106 to invest in the Borough’s built environment and infrastructure.

You will mentor and supervise planning officers, including moderating and signing off applications to ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and guidance, promoting high quality decision making aligned with the Borough’s objectives. Additional duties include preparing evidence for appeals and presenting at hearings, with opportunities to contribute to specific non-casework projects.

Experience
Experience working at an officer level within a local authority is advantageous. A good understanding of the London planning system and the ability to manage high caseloads with multiple demands is essential.

Qualifications
A recognised RTPI qualification is essential.
