About the Role
As a Business Rates Officer, you will manage a large portfolio of Business Rates accounts and associated Business Improvement District (BID) Levy accounts, ensuring effective billing, collection, and recovery processes. You will take a customer-focused approach to maximise revenue for the organisation, ensuring compliance with legal and statutory requirements and supporting the ambitions set out in Camden 2025 plan.
You will provide a professional and proactive service by responding to correspondence and telephone enquiries. You will identify and develop recovery actions against businesses throughout the recovery process, representing the Council at Magistrates Court and High Court hearings, including virtual hearings.
This role requires managing a variety of queries related to billing, collection, and recovery, playing a crucial part in maximising resources to deliver the best outcomes for residents.
Experience
IRRV qualified or previous technical experience in a Business Rates customer-focused environment. Knowledge of compliance with data protection, data sharing, audit, and financial standards is essential.
About you
Excellent analytical, literacy, and written communication skills with strong IT application knowledge. Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced environment, balancing competing priorities and meeting deadlines. Skilled in tactfully dealing with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, using problem-solving skills and initiative to provide a customer-focused support service.
You will take the lead in identifying improvements to processes and systems while working effectively as a team member to deliver shared objectives.
Qualifications
Relevant professional qualifications such as IRRV or equivalent technical experience in Business Rates are required.
