About the Role
This apprenticeship role is within the Business Operations Team of the Emergency Preparedness, Resilience & Response and Response Operations Directorate at UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA). You will undertake a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship, working towards a nationally recognised qualification with 20% of paid time dedicated to learning and development. The Directorate delivers frontline services to protect national health security, responding to major incidents and outbreaks including pandemics, while supporting business as usual.

The Business Support Officer will provide comprehensive, efficient, and confidential administrative support to the Directorate. Responsibilities include organising meetings and events, managing reports and action logs, supporting project work, assisting with financial and resource management, and maintaining effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. You will work flexibly within a multidisciplinary team, often with colleagues across multiple sites or remote locations, and may provide cover for team members as needed.

The role involves supporting senior managers and the Directorate as a whole through a variety of administrative, project, financial, leadership, and communication duties. You will contribute to the development of systems and procedures to improve efficiency and quality, participate in working groups, and assist with data collation and report production.

UKHSA is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion, fostering an environment where differences drive innovative solutions. This role requires adherence to UKHSA policies and values, and the successful candidate may be involved in civil protection responsibilities under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
