About the Role
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) Acute Respiratory Infections Unit, part of the Tuberculosis, Acute Respiratory, Emerging/Zoonotic Infections and Travel (T.A.R.Z.E.T) Division, is seeking an Information Officer/Admin to support public health functions related to acute respiratory infections such as Legionella, MERS-CoV and zoonotic Influenza. This role involves data collection, management, analysis, and reporting to improve preparedness, prevention, and control of these infections in the UK.
Key responsibilities include maintenance and development of databases, monitoring data submissions, processing and validating data, and producing epidemiological reports. You will assist with data analysis using standard statistical software and contribute to the creation and review of Standard Operating Procedures. The role requires strict adherence to data governance and confidentiality policies, including compliance with the Data Protection Act.
You will collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including epidemiologists, health protection teams, NHS Trusts, local authorities, and other public health partners. The role offers opportunities for professional development through training and appraisal, and requires participation in mandatory training such as fire safety and information governance.

Experience
- Experience in data management, handling, analysis, and reporting.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of information governance, data protection, and confidentiality requirements.
- Ability to communicate proactively and tactfully with a wide range of health, IT, and academic professionals.
- Ability to prioritise and co-ordinate workload effectively.
- Experience working independently and as part of a team.
- Calm and efficient problem-solving skills.
- Sound numeracy skills and understanding of data presentation.
- Basic understanding of epidemiological terms and methods.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to meetings and training across UKHSA sites.
