About the Role
The Acute Respiratory Infections team, part of UK Health Security Agency’s TARZET division at Colindale, focuses on specialist epidemiology and surveillance of acute respiratory pathogens. This role involves working within the surveillance section of the team to coordinate and develop the collation and epidemiological analysis of acute respiratory infection surveillance datasets. Under supervision of senior scientific staff, you will extract, collate and validate surveillance datasets, carry out epidemiological analyses to monitor trends, geographic distribution and risk factors, and contribute to surveillance and policy reports as well as peer-reviewed publications.

You will develop and implement standardised data collection and analysis protocols, identify and resolve data quality issues, and ensure data processing complies with relevant policies and standard operating procedures. The role includes supporting national and international surveillance programmes, research projects, and outbreak investigations by maintaining surveillance and data management systems, conducting complex statistical analyses, and managing tasks.

Additional responsibilities include communicating complex epidemiological and statistical information to a wide range of stakeholders, contributing to national and local policy reports, undertaking literature reviews and research, and assisting in teaching and training activities within UKHSA and externally.

The role reports to Section Leads in the ARI Division through the Principal or Senior Scientist coordinating the projects and may involve managing staff within the division.

UKHSA is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, fostering an inclusive culture where differences drive innovative solutions to meet workforce and community needs.
