
Location
Richmond, onsite role at The National Archives, located in beautiful Kew, just a 10-minute walk from Overground and Underground stations.
Hours
Monday to Friday standard working hours, plus overtime every third Saturday. Every six weeks, a late rota applies with working hours from 10:50 am to 7 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Biannual visits to offsite storage facility required, which may include overnight stays.
Salary
£30,209 per annum, plus a contribution of £8,751 towards membership of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
About the Role
Join our dynamic Archive Management team as a pivotal manager overseeing large-scale document moves and leading a team of up to eight talented individuals. This role offers a clear career progression opportunity: after completing a 12-24 month development plan involving comprehensive training and hands-on experience, you will be promoted to the senior position of Archival Storage Manager. During this period, you will develop expertise in data management, including manipulating data in Excel and presenting it via Power BI, while enhancing your people management skills.
As custodian of over 1000 years of iconic national documents, you will work collaboratively with other managers and internal and external stakeholders to deliver data-driven storage solutions supporting day-to-day operations and large-scale document accessions. The role requires a highly motivated individual who can remain calm under pressure, meet deadlines, and apply a methodical approach in a busy environment.

Experience
Demonstrable experience liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including supervising contractors. Proven ability to proactively manage own workload and that of others to deadlines in a demand-led environment. Strong analytical skills with experience using routine data to inform decisions in consultation with other managers.

Qualifications
