It is part of King’s Health Partners, an academic health sciences centre, with dedicated clinical research facilities including an MHRA accredited Phase I clinical trials unit.

The Assistant Clinical Research Practitioner will support the reproductive health and childbirth research portfolio within the Trust. Acting as a patient and participant advocate, you will provide clinical research and administrative assistance across multiple studies. Key responsibilities include supporting participant identification, maintaining accurate research records, verbally explaining research projects and obtaining permissions, performing venepuncture, working within department laboratories, and providing essential administrative support to the Women’s Health team. You will ensure adherence to research protocols and contribute to the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

The role is embedded within the South London Regional Research Delivery Network, hosted by Guy’s and St Thomas’, which supports the efficient delivery of health and care research across the region. The post is also linked to the King’s College London Department of Women and Children’s Health, fostering excellence in clinical service, research, and teaching.

Requirements

Experience
- Experience working in a patient, public, or customer-facing role
- Experience working in a team environment
- Desirable: Experience in health or social care settings
- Desirable: Experience performing basic clinical tasks such as clinical observations (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature)
- Desirable: Experience working in a healthcare research environment

About you
- Good communication skills
- Ability to manage priorities under pressure
- Ability to understand and comply with research protocols and departmental procedures, reporting difficulties and exceptions to senior staff
- Desirable: Ability to collect blood samples via venepuncture and cannulation
- Desirable: Previous laboratory experience
- Desirable: Knowledge of current and past research undertaken by the Reproductive Health and Childbirth research team
- Desirable: Knowledge and interest in Women’s Health
- Desirable: Experience supervising staff

Qualifications
- Essential: Education equivalent to undergraduate degree level or significant relevant work experience
- Desirable: Education or work experience related to Reproductive Health and Childbirth
- Desirable: Current Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training
- Desirable: Evidence of ongoing professional development in a relevant field
