About the Role
The London Port Health Authority (LPHA) is a key part of the City of London Corporation, covering 94 miles of the River Thames and serving as one of the largest port health authorities in the EU. The LPHA is responsible for port health matters including food and feed imports, infectious disease control, shellfish sampling, ship sanitation, and a wide range of public and animal health controls essential to the wellbeing of London and the UK.

As Assistant Director, you will lead a high-performing team and manage the services of the LPHA, focusing on the major ports of London Gateway and Tilbury, as well as the Launch Service. You will ensure resources are used efficiently and effectively while meeting local, national, and international priorities.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape and deliver a broad regulatory agenda, from implementing legislation and authorising enforcement actions to managing the impacts of the UK’s evolving relationship with the EU. We seek a proactive and adaptable professional who thrives on challenge and enjoys building strong, effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

In return, we offer a generous benefits package and a fascinating career path within a dynamic and impactful organisation.
