About the Role
Guildhall School of Music & Drama is a vibrant international community ranked among the world’s leading conservatoires. We are seeking an experienced, curious, and ambitious Network & Systems Manager to join our Digital, Production & Venue Support (DPVS) team. This role offers a rare opportunity to take operational responsibility for a sophisticated technical environment supporting over 60 performance venues, studios, teaching spaces, and classrooms. The DPVS team operates hundreds of interconnected audio, video, recording, and broadcast devices, with an equipment inventory valued at over £2 million.

As Network & Systems Manager, you will oversee the School’s specialist recording, broadcast, and audio-visual systems and networks, including a large low-latency audio network, Dante Domain Manager, NDI video distribution, networked recording systems, and specialist software. You will diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, document systems, improve resilience, and work closely with engineers, academics, and students to develop new production workflows.

This is a hands-on role within a busy technical department supporting concerts, theatre productions, recording sessions, broadcasts, teaching, research, and student-led work. You will collaborate with Recording & AV engineers, venue teams, academic departments, and central IT colleagues, influencing the development of the School’s infrastructure.

The DPVS department is multidisciplinary, covering recording, broadcast, AV, sound, lighting, stage, technical production, and venue operations. The role requires excellent organisational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a commitment to maintaining uninterrupted performance and teaching activities.

Experience
Substantial experience with professional audio, video, or broadcast systems and a strong understanding of IP networking in a media environment. Experience with Dante, NDI, network administration, recording studios, production workflows, and integrated AV systems is highly valuable. Knowledge of emerging media-over-IP technologies such as ST 2110 is desirable. Experience in broadcast, live production, studio technical management, media-network specialism, AV systems engineering, or higher education technical roles is welcomed.

Qualifications
A networking qualification such as CCNA is useful but not essential if you have equivalent professional experience. We value practical skills and the ability to apply knowledge over formal qualifications.
